About Magdalena (Magdi) Tornyai, MA, M.Ed, RCC, CCC

Magdalena Tornyai has been a Certified Canadian Counsellor since 2003. Her certification is in a good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association of Canada and she was recently accepted as a registered member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

As a Registered Clinical Counselor in private practice, Magdalena specializes in helping people of all ages struggling through difficult life situations, using solid, SFBT (solution-focused brief therapy) and inner child work approaches. She offer her clients a calm, safe and understanding environment and the experience of over 15 years as a clinician in a variety of settings, to help them sort out their problems and find a way to cope and resolve their important concerns.

Magdalena is confidant in her ability to provide quality counselling services that meet the needs of individuals and families in a timely and responsive manner, while understanding and attending the issues individuals and families are facing. She is able to provide responsible short term therapy and counselling.
Magdalena has more than 15 years supervised clinical experience during which she served children, youth and their families. Often times she worked with Aboriginal families who were struggling with generational trauma, abuse and mental illness. Magdalena also counselled delinquent youth and adults with reactivity, aggression, violence and addiction issues. During this time she provided Clinical Assessment, Provisional Diagnoses and treatment for individuals, couples, families and groups. 

She conducted integrated case management with child protection workers, school professionals, doctors and psychiatrists. Among other areas, Magdalena has also counselled in the areas of addictions, suicidal ideation, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and personal and generational trauma. 

She has been involved in mediating family disputes, treating aggressive behavior, anxiety and depression issues, self-harming behavior, and parent/child interaction problems and has had much success working with high risk children and teens as well.
